Analysis of the Logitech Wireless Wave Combo

As technology like computers has become more integrated in our daily lives, companies have started producing ergonomic computer peripherals. We spend much of our time at our computer workstations, and this can cause computer vision syndrome, neck and back pain, disorders regarding joints, and carpal tunnel syndrome. With the use of ergonomic equipment though, comfort and efficiency is maximised for the user.

Analysing the Design of the Logitech Wireless Wave Combo MK550

This is one of the most popular and budget-friendly pairs of ergonomic computer accessories on the market.

Comfort Curve
  • The keyboard’s unique shape follows the natural curve of your hand while remaining straight enough such that it’s user-friendly for those transitioning from a regular keyboard.

  • The keyframe is ‘wave shaped’ – optimal for the users’ fingers when typing on the keyboard. It’s easier for the user to reach certain keys, hence improving efficiency and comfort. Its central hump rises slightly.

Palm Rest
  • Below the keyframe is a cushioned palm rest which aims to support the palms so that you’re not pressing onto the keyboard – this makes the keyboard a little bit more pricey than its non-ergonomic counterparts.

  • This offers comfort when the user is not typing.

Sculpted Mouse Shape
  • The mouse is equipped with rubber grips to ensure ease of use. There is a place to rest your thumbs, so using the mouse is comfortable.

  • Its shape is designed to fit comfortably in the users’ palm – an exact size. Its sculpted shape aligns with the natural contours of the hand.

  • Interestingly enough, it’s also designed for ambidextrous users, meaning both hands can use the mouse comfortably.

Rubber Wheel & Tilt Wheel
  • The rubber wheel is marked with precise indents, allowing for precise line-by-line scrolling.

  • There is also a tilt wheel ensuring efficient navigation when scrolling horizontally.

  • Generally, the design aims to maximise efficiency for the user especially when navigating through pages.
